TUPELO, Miss. (October 3, 2018) – The Rollins water ski team qualified for its 12th-straight National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA) National Championship, taking third at the Eastern Region Championship.
The Tars were third in each of the three events, totaling 4,085 points. Alabama won the regional title with 5,435 points and Florida Southern took second with 5,235 points. Clemson was a distant fourth with 2,920 points.
Senior Dorien Llewellyn led the way with an individual championship behind a dominant victory in slalom, runner-up finish in tricks and fifth place finish in jumps. Rafael De Osma was second overall, finishing second in slalom, tying for fourth in tricks and taking 12th in jumps.
The Rollins women were also third; winning tricks and taking third in both slalom and jumps.
Rollins will next ski at the NCWSA National Championship Oc. 11-13 in San Marcos, Texas.
