LAKELAND, Fla. (September 9, 2019) – Rollins and Florida Southern got out on the water over the weekend, as both squads continue to prep for the National Collegiate Waterski Association Eastern Regionals at the end of the month. The Tars came out on top, with a combined team score of 955.0 against the Mocs' 695.0.
The Florida Southern men edged Rollins, 515.0-495.0. The Mocs took first in slalom, while the Tars won both the tricks and jumps events.
Rafael De Osma led the Tars with second place finishes in both slalom and tricks. Nathan Cherry earned seventh slalom, and fifth in tricks, before leading Rollins with a second place result in the jump event. Collin Diviak was eighth in slalom, but recovered to post a third place finish in tricks, and a fourth in jumps.
The Tars' women sailed to a 460.0-180.0 victory, winning all three events.
Freshman Neilly Ross paced the Tars with first place finishes in both slalom and tricks. Mia Morgan and Emma Morgan finished second and third in tricks to earn the podium sweep for Rollins. Freshman Charlsey Newman took gold in the jumps competition, while Emma Morgan and Camille Diviak completed the Tars' second one, two, three finish.
The Tars will return to competition in Saturday, September 28, when they travel to the NCWSA Eastern Regional in Greenwood, South Carolina.
