Rollins Makes Big Leap in Division II National Rankings

LILBURN, Ga. (November 21, 2017) – Behind its 4-0 start to the season, the Rollins women's basketball team has risen to No. 7 in the latest WBCA Division II Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the D2SIDA Media Poll, it was released Tuesday

In the coaches ranking, defending national champion Ashland remains atop the poll, earning all 23 first-place votes. Alaska-Anchorage moved to No. 2 while Bentley checked in at No. 3. California (Pa.) and West Texas A&M round out the top-five. Rollins is the lone Sunshine State Conference school mentioned in the ranking and one of just two from the South Region in the poll with Valdosta State coming in at No. 20.

The D2SIDA ranking has Ashland at No. 1, Alaska-Anchorage at No. 2 and Indiana (Pa.) at No. 3. Along with the Tars from the SSC, Embry-Riddle received votes.

The Tars have rolled through the first two weeks of the season, earning huge wins over Thomas and Florida Tech, followed by a road win at Lynn and home victory against St. Thomas.

Rollins will next host its annual Thanksgiving Classic November 24-25 in at Warden Arena. The Tars match-up with Talladega at 12 p.m. the first day before meeting Caldwell at 2 p.m. to close the event. Caldwell is ranked No. 20 in the D2SIDA National Ranking and received votes in the coaches poll.
