McLendon Grabs 4th SSC Defensive POW Award

MELBOURNE, Fla. (January 15, 2018) – Behind another pair of dominating efforts, Carly McLendon was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

The honor is the fourth of the season for the junior from Sanford and ninth of her career; McLendon was last season's SSC Defensive Player of the Year.

McLendon was instrumental in the Tars big 59-52 win over then SSC leader Tampa on Wednesday. She tallied nine points on offense and racked up seven rebounds and five blocks. Three days later at Florida Southern McLendon grabbed seven more rebounds and tallied three blocks.

On the season, she leads the conference and ranks fourth in the nation with 53 blocks. Her 3.3  rejections per game is sixth best in all of Division II. McLendon also averages 8.9 points and is third in the conference with 9.4 rebounds a night.
