MELBOURNE, Fla. (December 3, 2018) – Propelling Rollins to wins over two previously unbeaten teams, senior forward Carly McLendon was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
The Sanford, Florida native posted a pair of double-doubles on the week, averaging 16 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games. She was 15-of-23 from the field and played 70 minutes without a turnover.
Against nationally ranked Embry-Riddle, McLendon posted 10 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Tars to a convincing 71-63 over the Eagles. She was even more impressive against SSC leading Lynn later in the week, posting a career-high 22 points and hauling in 10 rebounds to give the Tars a 70-41 victory. Rollins joins Eckerd and Florida Southern as the only teams to be perfect in conference play.
On the season, McLendon is 15th in the conference with 12 points a game and ranks third with 8.7 rebounds a night. She is the top shot blocker in the league with 3.6 a game, the sixth best mark in the nation.
The Player of the Week award is the 10th time McLendon has been feted by the conference with the previous nine-times being the Defensive Player of the Week award.
