MELBOURNE, Fla. (November 16, 2019) – Just a five-point game at the half, Rollins made the needed adjustments coming out of the break and beat Puerto Rico Bayamon 70-43 Saturday at the Florida Tech Tipoff.
Jaylyn Harrison pumped in 12 points to lead the Tars (3-1) in the bounce-back win after Friday's loss. Rachel Lia scored 11 points and Silvia Lasarte Garcia netted eight. Rollins had 12 different players get into the scoring column.
Alyshia Cotto tallied 11 points and nine rebounds to Bayamon (0-4).
Harrison scored five in the opening quarter and got the Tars out to a 19-12 lead after the first. The Vaqueros came charging back in the second and cut into the Rollins lead, getting to within 29-24 at the break.
The Tars defense stepped up in the third quarter, holding Bayamon to just four field goals, while the offense started to heat up and put the Tars in front 51-33 heading into the fourth quarter. Rollins would go on to lead by as many as 27 late in the game, holding Bayamon scoreless the final 2:15.
Rollins shot 39 percent on the night while Bayamon hit 36 percent from the field. The Tars were their usual dominant selves on the glass, beating the Vaqueros 44-25 in rebounding. Rollins was also plus-11 in turnovers.
