CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (October 15, 2017) – Rollins used its best round of the tournament to move up one spot and finish 16th at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite on Sunday.
The Tars posted scores of 296-305-293 to finish with a 30-over par 894. Duke won the 18-team event with a tournament record 31-under 833 (283-271-279) while Alabama shot a single round event record 270 on Sunday and finished runner-up (834, -30). South Carolina was third with an 18-under 846.
Seher Atwal vaulted 17 spots up the leaderboard on the final day, finishing tied for 37th with a two-over 218 and leading Rollins. After hanging scores of 72-76 on the first two days, the sophomore finished strong with a two-under 70 on Sunday. She started on No. 15 and was bogey free over the first 14 holes, which included a birdie-two on No. 8. After a bogey on No. 11, she closed the day par-birdie-birdie.
Madison Lellyo was also a big mover on Sunday, climbing seven spots into a tie for 51st. She came into the final round having posted scores of 72-77 over the first two days. The senior finished with a one-over 73 after a day with three bogeys and two birdies.
Lexie Toth tied for 67th with rounds of 76-75-75 for a 10-over score of 226 over the weekend. She was at two-under at one point during the final round and closed the day with three total birdies.
Selin Timur had her best round of the tournament on Sunday and finished tied for 86th with a 17-over 233. The sophomore turned in scores of 80-78-75 at the tournament. Sophie Faulkner tied for 88th with a 20-over 236, posting rounds of 76-77-83.
After a busy week that saw six rounds of golf in two different states, Rollins returns to the course Oct. 30-31 for the USF Intercollegiate in Tampa, putting a cap on the fall season.
