LUTZ, Fla. (October 31, 2017) – Led by two seniors, the Rollins women's golf team closed its fall season finishing in a tie for sixth at the USF Intercollegiate on Halloween.
The 12th-ranked Tars carded a final round 310 to go along with scores of 321-306 on Monday to finish with an 85-over par score of 937. Central Florida rival Stetson matched the Tars final score after shooting a 307 on Tuesday.
Georgetown won the event, leaping two spots on the leaderboard Tuesday to finish with a 66-over score of 918 (303-316-299). The Tars Sunshine State Conference foes Barry (924, +72) took second while Lynn (926, +74) was third.
Madison Lellyo led the way for Rollins, finishing ninth at 17-over (230) for the tournament. The senior was in the mix for the individual title after shooting scores of 75-74 on Monday. She then posted a 10-over 81 on Tuesday to grab her second top-10 finish of the season.
Lexie Toth had the low final round for the Tars, using a three-over 74 to climb 11 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 14th. After two bogeys to start she got back to one-over with a birdie on the fourth hole of the day. She then closed the day with 12 pars and two bogeys to finish the tournament with an 18-over 231 (83-74-74).
Seher Atwal tied for 18th, shooting a 20-over 233. The sophomore carded rounds of 80-75-78. Selin Timur had her best round of the week on Tuesday, shooting a 77 to get into a tie for 42nd with a 31-over 244 (84-83-77). Shyanne Lovan tied for 59th, shooting scores of 83-84-84 for a 38-over, 251.
Rollins returns to the course to begin its championship spring season Feb. 19-20 at the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland.
