Tars Second at Buccaneer Spring Classic

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (March 12, 2018) – Rollins led after round one, but was overtaken by Saint Leo in round two as the Sunshine State Conference rivals sit 1-2 after the first round of the Christian Brothers Buccaneer Spring Classic.

 Day 1 results

Playing in blustery conditions just outside of Memphis, the Tars shot an opening round 307 and lead the Lions by three strokes. Rollins turned in a 313 afternoon round to Leo's 306 putting the Lions on top of the leaderboard at 40-over and the Tars second at 44-over. 

Southern Indiana (+82) is third, followed by Drury (+107) and Southwestern Christian (+122). 

Lexie Toth shot scores of 73-79 and is second, just one shot back, with an eight-over score of 152. Seher Atwal is third with an 11-over score of 155, turning in rounds of 77-78. 

Selin Timur is 12-over (77-79) for the tournament and is tied for fourth with Madison Lellyo eighth, shooting rounds of 80-77 for a 13-over scores of 157. Lara van Staden is tied for 15th, sitting 25-over (169) with rounds of 87 and 82.

Shyanne Lovan and Julia Malone are playing as individuals and give the Tars all seven players in the top-20. Lovan is 14th at 22-over (166) after matching rounds of 83 while Malone is 19th after rounds of 88-85 (+29, 173). 

The Buccaneer Spring Classic concludes with a final round on Tuesday, March 13 at Germantown Country Club, the host site of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament in May.
