MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (March 27, 2018) – On a tough scoring day for all teams, Rollins' third round score was the same as the second as the 13th-ranked Tars finished sixth at the BarryU Invitational.
The Tars posted a 35-over score of 899 (291-304-304) against the star-studded field that included 13 nationally ranked teams and five of the top-10.
Top-ranked Nova Southeastern led the way with a nine-over, 873 (293-289-291) winning score while second-ranked UIndy and third-ranked Dallas Baptist tied for second with 21-over scores of 885. Florida Southern (892) was fourth and host Barry (897) fifth.
Seher Atwal was the Tars top finisher, tying for sixth place with 220 strokes (+4). The sophomore came into the day carrying rounds of 70-77 on Monday and posted a one-over 73 in the final round. Her last day featured and another solid back-nine, which she played even over the course of the event, and a five-spot jump up the leaderboard.
Madison Lellyo finished alone in 18th with an eight-over score of 224. The senior went 72-76 on Monday and closed with another four-over 76. She was consistent on Tuesday with 14 pars and four bogeys.
Lara van Staden tied for 35th for the Tars, posting rounds of 74-77-77 for a 12-over 228 tournament. The newcomer stayed out of trouble Tuesday with 13 pars and five bogeys. Lexie Toth finished 38th place with a 13-over 229. The senior carded rounds of 75-76-78 in her last trip through Don Shula's Golf Club. Selin Timur tied for 41st with 231 strokes (+15) after scores of 76-75-80. Shyanne Lovan played as an individual and tied for 51st with scores of 81-76-78 (235, +19).
Rollins closes its regular season April 7-8 at the Harvard Spring Invitational, hosted at The Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida.
