GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (May 7, 2018) – Rollins used a strong finish over the final nine holes to grab third place at the start of the NCAA Division II Super Region Tournament.
The 10th-ranked Tars shot a 15-over 303 on Monday, trailing leader Nova Southeastern by seven strokes and second place Barry by six. Rollins is five shots in front of fourth place Lee.
The top three teams from each region earn a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship. Super Region play for the Tars continues through Wednesday at Germantown Country Club in Germantown, Tennessee.
Seher Atwal posted the Tars low round with a solid two-over 74. Starting on the back-nine, she was even at the turn and dropped three strokes over the first five holes of the front. The sophomore then got a birdie on No. 8 and finished with a par on nine to sit in a tie for sixth.
Lexie Toth is a shot back of Atwal in a tie for 11th after a three-over 75. The senior played the first nine holes at two-over, including a birdie-two on No. 12. She went to four-over coming down the home stretch before a birdie-four on the last hole of the day.
Madison Lellyo and Selin Timur both shot five-over rounds of 77 and are tied or 21st. Lellyo was two-over for most of the day before a double bogey on No. 6 and bogey on No. 8. Timur stayed mostly out of trouble and took five bogeys on the day.
Lara van Staden is tied for 33rd with a seven-over round of 79.
Tilda Larsson of Barry shot a four-under 68 and leads the field while Paloma Vaccaro of West Florida and Tampa's Kiira Riihijarvi are tied for second at two-under.
