PREVIEW: Rollins Visits Ivy League for Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. (September 27, 2018) – Coming off a stellar start to the season at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational, Rollins women's golf next heads to New Jersey for the 2018 Princeton Invitational. 

Rollins joins 11 other teams in the star-studded field – all Division I schools. Host Princeton welcomes Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Navy, Penn, Penn State, Seton Hall, Yale, Youngstown State and the Tars to Springdale Golf Club. Teams will play one round Saturday and one round Sunday on the par-72, 6,100-yard course. 

The Tars are grouped with Penn and Dartmouth in the first round and will tee off on No. 1 beginning at 9:41 a.m. Saturday. Fans can follow along with live scoring here

Rollins finished third at the Princeton Invitational a year ago, one shot back of Harvard and 15 strokes behind winner Georgetown. Seher Atwal tied for third individually with a six-over 222, posting scores of 72-75-75. 

Seven of the schools at the Princeton Invitational the Tars also faced as the season opening Nittany Lion Invitational a week ago. Penn State won the event with Seton Hall taking fourth and Navy fifth. Georgetown and Penn tied for eighth, just two strokes ahead of 10th place Rollins. The Tars finished ahead of Youngstown and Yale. 

Atwal is the Tars top player this season, shooting a seven-over 223 (75-74-74) at tying for 21st at Penn State. Jennifer Jung and Selin Timur were both 15-over and tied for 51st. Sophie Faulkner tied for 66th with a 21-over 237 and Lara van Staden totaled 242 strokes and tied for 75th.

After Princeton, Rollins makes one more trip in the fall, playing in the North Carolina Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 12-14. Individuals will play at the Saint Leo Invitational the same weekend. The fall season then closes with the inaugural Rollins Legends Classic at Orlando Country Club Nov. 5-6.
