WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 10, 2018) – The Rollins women's golf team will be spread out across the Southeast in the coming days, participating in both the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational and Saint Leo Invitational.
The Tars top-five are headed to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for the UNC-hosted Ruth's Chris, Oct. 12-14 at the UNC Finley Golf Course. Three individuals will be playing the best in Division II at the Saint Leo Invitational, Oct. 15-16.

In what has become an annual fall trip for the Tars, Rollins will once again be the lone non-Division I on the course in Chapel Hill. Joining Rollins in the star-studded field will be Arkansas, UNC-Charlotte, Clemson, Duke, Furman, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, host UNC, NC State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tulane, UNC-Wilmington, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
Rollins is grouped with Ohio State and NC State the first day of competition. Eighteen holes will take place Friday through Sunday, with fixed tee times on No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8:51 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
Seher Atwal leads the way for Rollins after its first two tournaments of the year, posting a 74.20 stroke average over five rounds. The junior is the reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week coming off a tie for 10th at the Princeton Invitational. Selin Timur has a 76.40 stroke average and freshman Jennifer Jung is third on the team with a 77.80 stroke average. Sophie Faulkner (78.00 avg.) and Lara van Staden (80.60 avg.) are also in the Tars line-up.
The Tars finished 16th at the Ruth's Chris last season, shooting a 30-over 894 (296-305-293). Duke (-31) and Alabama (-30) torched the field, finishing first and second, respectively. Atwal led the way, shooting rounds of 72-76-70 and tying for 37th
Saint Leo Invitational
Rollins will have three individuals playing at the Saint Leo Invitational as Elizabeth Lacognata, Shyanne Lovan and Julia Malone will take to Lake Jovita Country Club Oct. 15-16. The trio will play one round each day against the state's toughest Division II competition.
Lovan has played in one tournament this season, finishing tied for 67th at the Princeton Invitational with scores of 83-84. Malone will be in action for the first time this season and Lacognata will get a first look at collegiate competition.
Lovan tied for 24th at the Saint Leo Invite a year ago, turning in scores of 78-75 to finish nine-over. Malone tied for 53rd at 23-over with rounds of 85-82.
The Tars close the fall slate hosting the inaugural Rollins Legends Invitational at Country Club of Orlando Nov. 5-6.
