ORLANDO, Fla. (November 4, 2018) – Under sunny skies and summer-like temperatures, the 10th-ranked Tars women's golf team posted a third-place finish at the inaugural Rollins Legends Invitational.
Second-ranked Dallas Baptist won a close battle with third-ranked Nova Southeastern as DBU posted a winning score of 13-over par. The Patriots turned in rounds of 293-286-298 for a seven-shot win over the Sharks (299-287-298).
The host Tars posted scores of 300-296-302 at the event, contested at the Country Club of Orlando.
Seher Atwal turned in a second red number of the tournament on Tuesday and finished tied for fourth at one-over (217). The junior carded 71-75 on Monday and started her final round on a tear with two-straight birdies. After a bogey on No. 3, she scored a birdie-two on No. 4 and followed with a bogey on No. 5. She settled down with nine-straight pars before trading birdie-bogey on 15-16 and finishing with two pars. Atwal's final round 71 moved her up three spots on the final leaderboard.
Jennifer Jung posted the best finish of her young career, tying for 11th at seven-over. The freshman shot a 78 first round and scorched Monday's afternoon round with a 69. She finished the tournament with a final round 76.
Lara van Staden tied for 27th with a 14-over 230, shooting scores of 76-75-79. Selin Timur tied for 32nd after a seven-spot jump up the leaderboard on the final day, shooting scores of 79-77-76 to finish at 16-over. Sophie Faulkner tied for 36th with scores of 75-78-80 (+17).
Rollins also had a pair of individuals playing in the tournament playing in the event. Julia Malone tied for 53rd at 24-over with scores of 77-80-83 and Shyanne Lovan tied for 63rd with a 28-over 244 (80-84-80).
Ann Parmerter of Dallas Baptist earned medalist honors, shooting a three-under 213 with rounds of 74-68-71.
The Rollins Legends Invitational closes the Tars fall season. They will be back on the course February 18-19 at the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland.
