Garner Inks Two in Early Signing Period

WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 29, 2018) – Rollins Director of Golf and women's head coach Julie Garner has announced the signing of Liza Eubanks and Katharina Hesse during the NCAA Early Signing period.

Both Eubanks from Peachtree City, Georgia and Hesse from Bremen, Germany will join the Tars for the 2019-20 school year.

"We are so excited to have Liza and Katharina join our team," said Garner, who is set to be inducted into the Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Sunday.

"Liza has a high golf IQ and academic IQ and will certainly help us from a stroke average and grade-point average standpoint," Garner said. "She is a fierce competitor and her Georgia High School State Championship experience will certainly help our team in post-season play. Liza is not afraid to work hard. That work ethic is contagious. She will make us better."

A standout at Starr's Mill High School, Eubanks is the reigning Georgia 5A high school individual state champion and led her team to state championships in 2017 and 2018. Her swing coach Paul Azinger, said: "I couldn't be happier for Liza but I'm not surprised. Rollins is a great school with a wonderful program. They are getting a fantastic player and an even better young lady."

Hesse started playing competitive golf at age nine and has enjoyed a standout youth career in Germany.

"I was at a tournament recruiting our other signee Liza Eubanks when I first spotted Kat. One swing and I was determined to sign her," said Garner "She is tall, athletic, and has great fundamentals. She also has the academic credentials necessary at Rollins. More than anything, she has a winning attitude – she will bring that competitive fire to our team. She will definitely make us better, and we are looking forward to her further development as a student-athlete here in Winter Park."

Since 2013, Hesse has won the Girls State Championship of Lower Saxony in her age group three times to go along with three Vice Championships. She won three HJGT tournaments, including the Hilton Head Junior Open, Bluffton Junior Open and 54-Hole Challenge at King & Prince.

Ranked fourth in the nation following the Fall season, Rollins will begin the spring championship season February 18-19 at the Florida Southern Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland.
