Atwal Leads the Field at Lady Moc Classic

LAKELAND, Fla. (February 18, 2019) – Seher Atwal was the only player with two rounds under par Monday and leads the field by two strokes after day one of the Lady Moc Classic. 


Rollins is tied for seventh as a team. The Tars shot an opening round 305 and were stuck in 12th place before firing an afternoon 298 and moving up to a tie for seventh with Limestone in the team standings. 

Atwal opened with a three-under 69 Monday and was tied with Nova Southeastern's Sofia Garcia Austt atop the leaderboard. The Rollins junior then posted a one-under 72 in round two and put a two-stroke gap on herself and the field. 

Selin Timur is tied for 43rd at 10-over with rounds of 79-75. Sophie Faulkner shot an opening round 81 and was on fire in round two, jumping 30 spots on the leaderboard after a 73 to tie with Timur in 43rd place. 

Jennifer Jung is a shot back of the duo in a tie for 48th, posting scores of 76-79 (+11). Lara van Staden is tied for 86th at 23-over with scores of 85-82. 

Shyanne Lovan is playing as an individual and sits tied for 79th with rounds of 84-80 (+20). Julia Malone, also an individual, is tied for 98th with 174 (91-83) strokes. 

Nova Southeastern leads the team standings at 15-over, followed by Saint Leo (+21) in second. Barry, Lynn and Tampa are all tied for third at 22-over. 

The final round is set for 8 a.m. Tuesday, February 19 at Grasslands Golf and Country Club in Lakeland.
