MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (March 26, 2019) – Seher Atwal posted a top-10 finish to lead the 17th-ranked Rollins women's golf team in a seventh place finish at the Barry University Invitational.
The Tars turned in their best score of the event on Tuesday, shooting a 294 to finish 23-over (298-295-294) for the tournament. Host and top-ranked Barry won at two-under while eighth-ranked Florida Tech was runner-up at seven-over. Arkansas Tech (+11) and Lynn (+15) rounded out the top-five while both Nova Southeastern and Keiser (+19) were just in front of the Tars.
Atwal was again under par on Tuesday, firing a one-under 71 to finish eighth, her fourth top-10 finish of the season. The junior shot 71-73 on Monday and was solid over the final 18 holes. She started the day with birdies on three of the first four holes and didn't record a bogey until her seventh hole of the day. After eight-straight pars, she took a bogey on No. 1 and closed with consecutive pars.
Selin Timur had the Tars best round of the day, shooting a two-under 70 and climbing 11 spots into a tie for 13th. She started the day with a birdie and was up and down, sitting at even par through 10 holes. Timur then finished with two birdies and six pars, posting a two-over 218 (74-74-70) for the tournament.
Freshman Jennifer Jung finished in a tie for 34th at 10-over, posting rounds of 76-73-77 (226). Sophie Faulkner shook off a tough start to the day and played the final nine holes at two-under and finished tied for 66th at 17-over (77-80-76). Lara van Staden tied for 71st with scores of 82-75-78 (235).
Rollins will close the regular season March 30-31 at the Harvard Invitational, hosted at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Florida.
