WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (March 31, 2019) – Rollins closed with its best round of the weekend, but didn't gain any round on the field Sunday, finishing eighth at the Harvard Invitational.
The Tars turned in a score of 308 on Sunday to finished at 69-over (312-313-308) for the event, hosted at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Florida. Rollins was the only Division II team in the field of mostly Ivy League schools.
Princeton won the tournament at 16-over, shooting scores of 292-293-295. Penn and Harvard tied for second at 27 over while Dartmouth and Navy tied for fourth at 45-over.
Selin Timur led Rollins, finishing tied for ninth at eight-over. The junior shot matching rounds of 74 on Saturday and closed with a four-over 76 Sunday morning. Jennifer Jung moved up seven spots after the final round, finishing tied for 18th. She posted two rounds of 77 on day one and finished strong with a two-over 74 on Sunday.
"I'm pleased to see Selin finish in the top-10 despite taking a triple early in her round today," said Rollins head coach Julie Garner. " Also very proud of Jennifer improving her score today."
"There are certainly some positive to take from the weekend, but we also know exactly what work needs to be done to improve our team play I hope we can make good progress in the lead up to the conference championship."
Rollins will next be in action April 14-16 at the Sunshine State Conference Championship, hosted at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City.
