DADE CITY, Fla. (April 15, 2019) – Rollins was 13 strokes better in the second round than on opening day and sits seventh heading into the final round of the Sunshine State Conference Championship.
The 16th ranked Tars posted a nine-over 297 at Lake Jovita Country Club and are 31-over for the tournament. Top-ranked Barry and eighth-ranked Lynn are tied for the lead at 13-over while Tampa is third, two strokes back.
Seher Atwal hung a two-over 74 on Monday and is tied for 15th at five-over (75-74). The junior, who is ranked fourth in the nation individually, went two-under after the first four holes and eventually hit the turn even par. She posted a birdie on No. 11 to get back to red numbers but bogeyed three of the last four holes.
Sophie Faulkner had the low round for the Tars, firing a one-under 71 and jumping 16 spots into a tie for 19th. She played the front nine at one-under and got as low as two-under on the back. The junior is seven-over for the tournament (80-71).
Jennifer Jung also made a move up the leaderboard and is tied for 27th with rounds of 79-75 (+10). The freshman was consistent all day with four bogeys 13 pars and one birdie. Lara van Staden is tied for 31st at 11-over (76-79) and Selin Timur is tied for 38th with rounds of 82-77 (+15).
Kiira Riihijarvi of Tampa leads the way at three-under (69-72).
The final round of the SSC Championship is slated for Tuesday, April 16. Rollins will be in the first group to tee off, starting at 8:30, playing with Florida Southern and Tampa.
