DADE CITY, Fla. (April 16, 2019) – Rollins vaulted two spots up the leaderboard on the final day to finish fifth at the Sunshine State Conference Championship.
The 16th-ranked Tars finished 40-over for the tournament, shooting scores 310-297-297, passing fifth-ranked Florida Tech and 13th-ranked Saint Leo after the final round.
Lynn (+20) took the team title by a stroke over Barry (+21). Nova Southeastern was third at 23-over and Tampa finished fourth (+26).
Saint Leo served as host of the event at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City.
Seher Atwal led Rollins, moving up four spots Tuesday into a tie for 11th. The junior posted rounds of 75-74 the first two days and finished with a one-over 73. She took a double-bogey on the first hole and played the rest of the way at one-under with four birdies to three bogeys.
Jennifer Jung also shot a 73 Tuesday and finished tied for 20th. She came into the day with scores of 79-75 and was three-over at the turn. After a bogey on 10, she birdied three of the next four holes to get to one-over. The freshman finished bogey-birdie and closed the tournament 11-over.
Selin Timur posted a red number on Tuesday, firing a one-under 71 and moving up 11 spots into a tied for 27th(+14). After rounds of 82-77 the first two days, she started her last trip around the course with a bogey, but quickly got it back with a birdie on No. 4. Six pars were followed by a birdie to start the second-nine. Timur bogeyed No. 16 and finished the round strong with a birdie on No. 18.
Rollins is likely to get a bid into the NCAA Tournament with the South Super Regional set for May 6-8 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
