CLEVELAND, Tenn. (May 5, 2019) – Ranked 12th in the nation coming out of the regular season, the Rollins women's golf team is set to tee off the 2019 NCAA Division II South Region Tournament, May 6-8 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The Tars are seeking a fifth-straight bid to the NCAA National Championship and record 17th in program history. The top-four teams and top-four individuals at regionals earn spots in the national tournament, hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic May 14-18.
Rollins is the No. 9 seed and one of eight Sunshine State Conference schools in the field of 12, joining Barry, Nova Southeastern, Lynn, Florida Tech, Saint Leo, Florida Southern and Tampa. Limestone from Conference Carolinas, Lee from the Gulf South Conference, Flagler of the Peach Belt Conference and Anderson from the South Atlantic Conference make up the field.
Lee is serving as host of the event at Cleveland Country Club.
Rollins is grouped with seven-seed Florida Southern and eight-seed Tampa in round one and will tee off starting on No. 10 at 8:40 a.m. Lara van Staden, Sophie Faulkner, Jennifer Jung, Selin Timur and Seher Atwal represent the Tars and all have big tournament experience.
Atwal is coming off a banner regular season and ranked fourth nationally with a 73.41 adjusted stroke average. The junior was also named first team All-Sunshine State Conference.
