WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 10, 2019) – For the third-straight event, Rollins will be the field's lone Division II school as the Tars head to the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, Oct. 11-13.
The UNC Finley Course (par-72 6,379-yards) in Chapel Hill, N.C. is the venue for the 44th annual tournament, featuring some of the top teams in the nation.
The tournament will feature an 18-team field with seven teams in the Women's Golf Coaches Association top-25; No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 9 Duke, No. 14 South Carolina, No. 18 Furman, No. 21 Michigan and No. 25 Alabama. The remainder of the field is composed of UNC-Charlotte, Clemson, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Rollins, Tulane, UNC-Wilmington and Virginia.
Rollins tied for 17th at the event a year ago with a 54-over 918 (309-302-307). Seher Atwal led the way, tying for 43rd at eight-over (76-74-74).
The Tars have played in the Boston College Intercollegiate and Princeton Invitationals thus far this season, finishing in the top-half of each event. They were seventh of 14 schools at BC and took fifth of the 13 teams at Princeton.
Atwal leads the way for the Tars, posting a 74.40 stroke average over five rounds. She tied for fifth at Princeton, shooting even par. Jennifer Jung and Lara van Staden both carry 76.40 stroke averages into UNC while Selin Timur is at 76.80 in the young season. YeonJoo Kim is the Tars fifth at the Ruth's Chris and has a 78.80 stroke average over her two career collegiate tournaments.
The tournament will begin with fixed tee times on No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8:51 a.m. on Friday. Saturday will follow the same schedule with fixed tee times on No. 1 and No. 10 at 8:51 a.m. Sunday will be a shotgun start scheduled for 9:15 a.m.
Rollins is matched-up with Tulane and UNC Wilmington in the first round and will tee off on No. 10 beginning at 10:39 a.m. Friday.
