  • Tars Place Two on IWLCA Academic Squad

    The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has recognized 407 student-athletes at 152 institutions for their excellence in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year. Current senior Marissa Giannerini and 2009 graduate Danielle Martin earned their place on the prestigious list after stellar academic and athletic performances in their spring season.

  • Rollins Ends Regular Season with 25-3 Win over Converse

    Freshman midfielder Bizzie Durell led a total of eight Tars in scoring on the way to a 25-3 romp over the Valkyries of Converse College on Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. The win closes out the Rollins women's lacrosse team's regular season with an overall mark of 12-3, while Converse drops to 3-13 in their inaugural season.
  • Tars Give No. 3 Limestone a Run for Their Money

    The Rollins women's lacrosse team gave South Region foe, and No. 3 ranked Limestone College a run for their money Friday afternoon in Gaffney, S.C. Rollins dropped their third game of the season, and first game against a regional opponent, to the Saints with a final score of 15-13, but it was a hard fought contest from beginning to end.

  • Tars Stay Undefeated in Regional Play with Victory over Bloomsburg

    Sophomore duo Liz Connelly and Katy Tyszko teamed-up in the final 35 seconds of regulation to net the go ahead goal for Rollins as they defeated South Region opponent Bloomsburg University 9-8 on Sunday afternoon in Bloomsburg, Pa. The victory over the Huskies secures the Tars' seventh-straight win, and puts them at an overall mark of 11-2, while BU drops to 11-5 on the season.

    Led by the dynamic duo of junior midfielder Marissa Giannerini and sophomore sharpshooter Liz Connelly, the Rollins women's lacrosse team picked-up their sixth straight win as they downed the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans 19-7 on Friday afternoon in Sparkill, N.Y. The victory gives Rollins their longest win-streak in program history, and advances them to an overall record of 10-2, while the Spartans drop to 1-8 on the season.

    After helping the Rollins women's lacrosse team to yet another undefeated week, freshman midfielder Bizzie Durell has earned WomensLacrosse.com Rookie of the Week honors for the period ending April 5, it was announced Tuesday. Rollins now sits with an overall mark of 9-2 in just their second year as an NCAA Division II team.

    Junior midfielder Marissa Giannerini led the Tars with five goals and two assists to help Rollins to a big 16-14 victory over the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights on Sunday afternoon. Rollins upsets the Knights on their senior day and advances to 9-2 on the season, while the Knights drop to an overall mark of 9-6.
  • Tars Earn First Shutout Victory in Program History

    The Rollins women's lacrosse team scored 14 first half goals en route to their first ever shutout with a 17-0 victory over Erskine College on Friday afternoon in Due West, S.C. The Tars (8-2) now look ahead to Sunday when they take on the St. Andrews Presbyterian College in a noon showdown in Laurinburg, N.C. The Flying Fleet drop to 0-12 on the season with the loss.
  • Rollins Holds Steady against Rangers

    Sophomore sharpshooter Liz Connelly scored four goals and registered four assists for eight points overall as the Tars defeated a resolute Ranger squad 18-12 on Saturday morning. Rollins (7-2) closes out their home season and takes to the road for the final half of their sophomore campaign, while Regis University (Colo.) travels home with an overall record of 5-2.

    Sophomore Liz Connelly notched a program and career high six assists against Southern Connecticut State University as the Tars downed the Owls 18-3 on Tuesday evening at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field.

Securing their second win on the week, the Tars move to 5-2 overall, while the Ravens conclude their spring break trip and head home with a mark of 1-2.

    With an overall record of 4-1, the Rollins women's lacrosse team comes in at No. 10 on the IWLCA/Under Armour Division II Coaches Poll for the second straight week it was announced Wednesday. The ranking and overall record set a new program high for the second-year team, and while the remainder of the season will be challenging, the outlook is positive for the young program.
  • Tenth-Ranked Tars Unable to Upset No. 8 New Haven

    Junior midfielder Marissa Giannerini netted four goals as the No. 10 Rollins women's lacrosse team took on the No. 8 University of New Haven Chargers Wednesday evening in Winter Park. Despite the Tars' best efforts, New Haven charged past Rollins to a 23-7 victory. The loss drops Rollins to 4-2 on the season, while UNH stays perfect on the season at 4-0.

    The tenth-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team saw scoring efforts from five different players as the Tars took on Northeast 10 opponent Saint Michael's College Monday evening, defeating the Purple Knights 16-11 on their home turf. With the win, Rollins moves to 4-1, while Saint Michael's drops their second game of the season and sits at 0-2.

    Three Tars scored as the Rollins women's lacrosse team took on the third-ranked Adelphi University Panthers Friday evening in Winter Park. The nationally-ranked Panthers (1-0) took advantage of a cold Central Florida evening as they defeated the Tars 19-3, handing Rollins their first loss of the season.

    Freshman attacker Mallory Surpless led the Rollins women's lacrosse team with seven goals and one assist as the Tars defeated Pfeiffer University with a final score 19-14 on Saturday afternoon at Ponte Vedra High School. The Tars open up their 2009 slate with a record of 1-0, while the Falcons kick off their official season with an overall mark of 0-1.
