Olin Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week, Ashton Tabbed SSC Offensive Player of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 26, 2018) – After helping the Rollins women's lacrosse team go undefeated on the week, including a 9-7 upset over then sixth-ranked Limestone, senior goalie Malorie Olin and Sophomore midfielder Hannah Ashton have swept the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week awards, conference officials announced, Monday.

This marks the second Defensive Player of the Week award for Olin's senior season, and the seventh of her career.  Ashton earns her first SSC Offensive Player of the Week nod for her sophomore season, and the second of her career.

Olin and Ashton helped the Tars go undefeated on the week, including helping the Tars topple then No. 6 Limestone as they handed the Saints just their second loss of the season. 

On the week, Olin faced 49 shots, earning 23 saves for a save percentage of .639 on the week.  The Skaneateles, N.Y. native allowed just 13 goals, for a goals against average of just 6.50.  Against No. 6 Limestone, Olin faced 26 shots and 18 shots on goal from the Saints, earning 11 saves while allowing just seven goals.  Olin wrapped up the week helping the Tars make easy work of Lenoir-Rhyne in a 15-6 victory, earning 12 saves and allowing only six goals as she faced 23 shots and 18 shots on goal from the Bears.  With Olin's help, the Tars have now won nine straight.

Ashton led the Tars in goals on the week, scoring eight on 11 shots for a shot percentage of .727 on the week.  All 11 of Ashton's shots were on goal, including her game-winner against South Region rival Limestone.  The Berwyn, Pa. native converted 1-of-1 free position shots, added three ground balls, and 10 draw controls on the week.  Against the No. 6 Saints, Ashton led the game in goals with four, firing off five shots, all of which were on target.  Ashton added two ground balls and two draw controls against the Saints as her game-winning goal helped the Tars earn their second upset win of the season.  Ashton once again led the Tars in goals to help Rollins take down Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 15-6 on Sunday afternoon, scoring four goals on six shots and six shots on goal. Ashton also added one ground ball, and notched a new career best in draw controls as she led the game with eight.  With Ashton's help, the Tars have now won nine-straight games.

Rollins returns home for their next game, hosting first year program Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, March 31.  Game time against the Sailfish is set for 5:00 p.m.  Fans who are unable to attend the game will be able to follow all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network on, as well as with live stats on
