Tars Sit Third in South Region Entering into Selection Show

NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Selection Show Set for Sunday, May 6

WINTER PARK, Fla. (May 2, 2018) – With the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse selection show on the horizon, Rollins has checked in at No. 3 on the latest South Region rankings, officials released Wednesday.

After being bounced out of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament in the Semifinals against Florida Southern, the Tars now wait to see if they will earn their fifth NCAA Tournament bid in seven seasons. The 2018 Division II Women's Lacrosse Selection Show is set to air on Sunday, May 6, at 8:30 p.m. EDT.

With an overall record of 14-4, and an in-region record of 12-3, the Rollins women's lacrosse team sits third in the South Region.  Florida Southern earns the top spot, while Florida Tech checks in at No. 2 in the South Region rankings.  Behind the Tars, Limestone sits fourth, and Young Harris earns the nod at No. 5.

The Tars have had a strong season leading up to Selection Show Sunday, including victories over regional foes Limestone and Florida Southern in the regular season.  Rollins took down the Saints, who were ranked sixth at the time of competition, by a final score of 9-7 on March 23, and then toppled top-ranked Florida Southern by a score of 11-10 on April 4.

Beginning in September 1, 2017, DII Women's Lacrosse expanded from two regions to four regions, with the anticipation of three teams from each region advancing to the NCAA DII Tournament.  This season's bracket will feature three teams from each region, for a total of 12 participating teams.  The bracket is set to expand to a 16-team format beginning September 1, 2018.  The updated regional breakdown is as follows:
