SET-UP:
The No. 9/12 Rollins women's lacrosse team jumps into their 2019 season on Tuesday when they open up their season with a non-conference matchup against the No. 19 University of Tampa Spartans.  The Tars open up their 12th season of action at home, matching up with UT in their season opener for the sixth-straight year.

TRACKING THE TARS:
The Tars, who were picked to finish second in the Sunshine State Conference, earning 31 points and one vote to finish first, also checked in at No. 9 on the IWLCA Division II Preseason Poll, and No. 12 on the NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Preseason Top 20.  Rollins wrapped up its 2018 campaign with a record of 14-4 and 4-2 in Sunshine State Conference action.  The Tars earned their fourth straight trip to the SSC Tournament, but were bounced out by eventual conference tournament champion Florida Southern in the semifinals by a score of 23-6.  After sitting third in the region entering into the NCAA tournament selection show, Rollins was looking to receive their fifth NCAA tournament bid in seven seasons.  However, despite defeating Limestone earlier in the season by a final score of 9-7 on Friday, March 23, the Tars found themselves left out of the post season bracket while the Saints were chosen as the No. 3 seed in the South.  The Tars have set their sights on 2019 and are looking to fight back with a vengeance in order to return to the NCAA post season tournament.  Rollins returns 27 players from last season's squad, and features nine newcomers including six freshmen and three transfers.  Returning are IWLCA All-Americans Kallie German and Lindsay Van Beck, along with All-Region selection Hannah Ashton, and All-Conference honorees Lily Rizk and Kaitlin Prince.  In all, the Tars return seven seniors, 10 juniors, and 10 sophomores, while welcoming two graduate student transfers, and one sophomore transfer.  2019 will see the Tars play at home six times, while playing seven true away contests and two neutral site games at the home of US Lacrosse in Sparks, Md.

TRACKING THE SPARTANS:
Entering into their sixth season, the University of Tampa Spartans find themselves ranked No. 19 on the IWLCA Division II Preseason Poll.  Despite appearing on the IWLCA preseason rankings, Tampa was not recognized on the NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Preseason Top 20.  The Spartans finished their 2018 campaign with a record of 12-6 and an SSC mark of 4-2, falling to Florida Tech in the SSC Tournament semifinals by a score of 20-8.  The squad was selected to finish third on the 2019 SSC Preseason Poll, earning 23 total points.  UT will play 15 regular-season contests, including six home games, and seven SSC matchups.
