Senior Duo Pick Up First Conference Weekly Awards of the Season
MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 11, 2019) – After helping the Rollins women's lacrosse team to a 21-16 victory over No. 19 Tampa in their season opener, seniors Lindsay Van Beck and Kallie German have been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
This marks the first SSC Player of the Week award for both Van Beck and German this season, and is Van Beck's third of her career, and German's fifth all-time.
Van Beck earns SSC Defensive Player of the Week honors after being integral on defense and winning five draw controls to help the Tars maintain possession in key situations. Her work on defense helped limit the nationally-ranked Spartans to 16 goals on 36 shots on the night. Van Beck was also a key component on the Tars' clears, helping Rollins to success on 15-of-19 clear attempts throughout the contest.
German picks up her fifth SSC Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career after leading the Tars in points with seven, earning four goals and three assists. German added a caused turnover while firing off six shots on the night, all on frame. With her fourth point of the evening, German became Rollins' all-time leader in career points with 224.
Rollins women's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday, February 16, when they host Westminster College at Cahall-Sandspur Field.
