Rollins Jumps Four Spots on Week 1 Poll

SPARKS, Md. (February 18, 2019) – After opening their season with a 2-0 record, including a 21-16 win over then No. 19 Tampa on February 5, the Rollins women's lacrosse team jumps to No. 8 on the first NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Women's Top 20 poll of the season, organization officials announced Monday.

The Tars climb four spots from their preseason ranking of 12th to sit within the Top 10.  Reigning National Champion Le Moyne remains at No. 1, and will kick off their season on March 2 against No. 9 Indianapolis.  Perennial powerhouse Adelphi checks in at No. 2, and will open their 2019 campaign this week in the Sunshine State when they take on No. 12 Florida Tech on Thursday, February 21, followed by a showdown against third-ranked Florida Southern on Sunday, February 24.

West Chester earns the nod at fourth, while Lindenwood rounds out the top five with a record of 2-0.  LIU Post remains at No. 6, and will start their season on February 23 against No. 20 Merrimack.  Limestone, who also jumped for spots from 11th to seventh this week, currently sits with a 2-0 record and will square off against Tampa, who dropped out of the poll after being ranked No. 19 on the preseason standings, on Thursday.  The Tars follow at No. 8, followed by Indianapolis at No. 9, and East Stroudsburg rounding out the top contenders at No. 10.  Florida Tech makes a big drop on the first poll of the season, falling from seventh to 12th after opening up their season with a record of 1-1.

Fellow Sunshine State Conference members Tampa and Saint Leo received votes on this week's rankings.
