Tars Surge to No. 2 on IWLCA DII Poll

Rollins Climbs to No. 3 on NIKE/US Lacrosse DII Top 20

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 1, 2019) – After breezing to a 22-2 Sunshine State Conference victory over Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday and rolling to a record of 10-0, their second best start in program history, the Rollins women's lacrosse team surges to No. 2 on this week's IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, organization officials announced Monday.

The second place ranking matches a program best for the Tars, who have been steadily climbing the rankings all season long.  The last time Rollins was ranked as high as No. 2 was back on April 23, 2012.  At the time of their first second place ranking, the Tars owned a 14-0 record, and had received three first place votes, their first in program history.  Rollins dropped back down to fourth the following week after closing their regular season with an overall record of 15-1, and after climbing to third in the second to last poll of the season, concluded their 2012 campaign ranked No. 4 on the final IWLCA poll of the season.

The No. 2 ranking marks the highest for the Tars in 2019.  Reigning National Champion Le Moyne checks in at No. 1, receiving all 25 first place votes.  Adelphi claims the No. 3 slot, followed by Lindenwood and LIU Post at fourth and fifth, respectively.

After taking down then No. 3 Florida Southern this past week, the University of Tampa vaults from No. 10 to No. 6 this week, bumping the Moccasins all the day down to No. 8.  West Chester fills the gap at No. 7, while East Stroudsburg and Regis come in a ninth and tenth, in that order.

Fellow Sunshine State Conference member Saint Leo climbs one position to No. 21 this week, for four SSC schools recognized on this week's rankings, including three in the Top 8.

The Tars also climb three spots on the NIKE/US Lacrosse DII Top 20, ascending from sixth to third this week.  Four undefeated teams claim the top for positions, with Le Moyne (9-0) coming in at No. 1, followed by Lindenwood (10-0) at No. 2, Rollins in third, and Regis (10-0) in fourth.  Adelphi claims the No. 5 position, followed by Tampa in sixth, Limestone in seventh, and Saint Leo in eighth.  Florida Southern checks in at No. 9 on this week's US Lacrosse standings, followed by East Stroudsburg at No. 10.  On these rankings, all four of the SSC schools represented on the standings rank within the Top 10.
