Rollins Novice 8 Medals at FIRA Championship

SARASOTA, Fla. (April 6, 2019) – Led by a third place finish from the Novice 8, Rollins women's rowing team posted a seventh place finish at the 2019 FIRA Championships in Sarasota.

Margaret Stewart, Alyssa Murphy, Britta Brown, Elsa Heisler, Natasha Kusibab, Sofie Gilbert, Allison Munden, Anna Belle Warren, Suzanna DeCosta was third in the Freshman/Novice 8 race, posting a time of 7:41.23. The Tars boat finished just behind Florida and Embry-Riddle while beating Nova Southeastern and Tampa.

The Varsity 8 crew of Cameron Robinson, Elizabeth Berry, Allison Stewart, Grace Wamester, Victoria Jones, Britta Brown, Alyssa Murphy, Ashley Kinsley and Samantha Talucci was sixth in 7:18.02).

The Tars Varsity 4 (Robinson, Berry, Stewart, Wamester, Talucci) was third in its heat and took fourth in the final. Its time of 7:44.01 was just a second behind runner-up Stetson and half a second behind third place Florida. Rollins beat SSC rival Barry by half a second.

The Novice 4 (Stewart, Murphy, Brown, Heisler, Kusibab) on its heat by seven seconds and was fourth in the grand final. Stewart, Munden, Gilbert, DeCosta and Warren teamed to take third in the Novice 4 "B" final.

The women's JV 4 (Rabade, Wasserman, Bates, Villarreal, Erin Snyder) was eighth in the final and the D2 4 (Rabade, Wasserman, Bates, Nicole Vitt, Snyder) finished fifth.

The Tars are next in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the SIRA Championship, April 19-20.
