Rollins returns 22 players from the 2017 squad, as the Tars look to improve on 4-9-2 record. Alicia Schuck will be looking to kick off her seventh season as the head coach of her alma mater with two wins against difficult competition.  Rollins opens the year facing off against a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents.  The Tars open 2018 against the Lee Flames, the No. 9 ranked team in the first United Soccer Coaches National Poll.  The Tars will then face West Georgia to complete their opening weekend of action.

The Tars return some key components from last year's squad, including leading scorer Chynna McGirt.  Now a sophomore, McGirt, will look to build a freshman campaign that saw her put in a pair of goals, and gain valuable experience.  Kiera McMeekan will provide veteran leadership in the midfield.  The senior has been named a team captain after scoring once and tallying one assist in 2017.  The most decorated player on the pitch in the Blue and Gold is junior goal keeper Kelly Rowswell.  The Windermere, Florida native is a two time First Team All-SSC performer, and a 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree.

The Lady Flames enter 2018 looking for a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after a 17-4-2 season, and a Sweet 16 berth, in 2017.  Lee has been tabbed third in GSC Preseason Poll, despite being the highest ranked team from the conference in the national poll.  Riley Engels will look to take over the scoring load for Lee after the graduation of All-American Summer Lanter.  Engles, now a junior, tallied eight goals and four assists during her sophomore campaign.  Anna Lanter, who saw action in both the midfield and defense last season as a freshman, was named to the 2018 All-GSC Preseason Team.  Lee is also welcoming 11 freshmen, who could look to make an immediate impact against the Tars.

West Georgia:
The Wolves are coming off an 8-9 season, which ended at the hands of Lee in the first round of the GSC Tournament.  West Georgia has been selected seventh of the 14 teams in the GSC Preseason Poll.  The Wolves return a key defensive nucleus from a team that held six clean sheets in 2017.  Jackie Donaldson was in goal for five shutouts while veteran defenders Becky Brown and Valerie Billstrom will look to build an imposing backline. Julia Atenza led West Georgia in scoring last season, tallying five goals, while rising sophomore Nikki Conte earned 11 points on four goals and three assists.

  • The Tars are 2-0 all-time against Lee.  The last time the two teams faced off was the opening round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.  Rollins came back from two early Lady Flames goals to tie the contest 2-2 in the 87th minute.  Rollins then scored the winner with two seconds left in the first overtime period to advance.
  • Rollins won their only previous meeting against West Georgia, downing the Wolves, in Carrollton, Georgia, in 2004.

Rollins continues their home stand to start the 2018 season.  Rollins will host another pair of tough opponents next weekend when Tusculum visits Winter Park on Friday, September 7, then No. 12 Columbus State will take on the Tars on Sunday, September 9.
