Tars Prepare to Battle Warriors

SET UP:
The Rollins College will host Webber International this week on Wednesday, September 12th at 5 p.m. The Warriors are currently 2-1 on the season and took down Florida National University at home 2-0. The Tars earned their first victory last week, defeating Tusculum 3-0, Rollins then remained unbeaten with a 1-1 draw against No. 5 Columbus State.  The Warriors will look for another win while the Tars' try to defend home field advantage.

WHO TO WATCH:
Rollins:
Rollins senior Kiera McMeekan was the Tar who scored against the No. 5 Cougars last time out. Sophomore Chynna McGirt and junior Jill Richards registered assists during the contest. Kathryn O'Brien is leading the Tars with four points, on two goals; while Richards and Sarah Buckley have posted three points, both tallying one goal and one assist.  Junior goal keeper Kelly Rowswell has started every game so far for the Tars, and has 17 saves this season. 

Webber International:
Webber international took on Florida National University in their latest game, winning 2-0 at home. Leah Borders and Megan Warner each scored one goal. Victoria Garcia and Mattea Ntacyo also helped the Warriors, each adding an assist during the contest. Warner leads the Warriors with three tallies on the year.  Freshman goalkeeper Summer Simpson played the total 90 minutes and secured 2 saves on the gamelast time out, and has seen most of the action in net this season. 

NOTES:

  • The Tars have tied 3 times this season, more than they had all of that year.
  • The Tars are 8-0 all-time against Webber international.
  • Katheryn O'Brien is one goal away from being top 15 in the Rollins record book. 

NEXT:
Next week the Tars' face two conference opponents, Florida Southern and No. 9 Barry.  Rollins will open SSC play on Wednesday, September 19, when the Mocs travel to Winter Park for a 7 p.m. contest.
