WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 12, 2018) – Rollins managed their second win, and stayed unbeaten, facing off against Webber International Wednesday afternoon. The Tars and Warriors battled for 90 minutes, with the Tars controlling the match, winning by a score of 6-1. Rollins moves to 2-0-3 on the year while Webber Warriors end the day at 2-1-1.
Rollins sophomore Chessa Ramirez found the goal for the Tars' early in the match. She was followed by Isabella Poma, Bella Giuliano, Ally Rost, Chynna McGirt, and Jill Richards. McGirt, Richards, and Yaya Mbengue all dished out assists for the Tars. Sarah Buckley gave Kelly Rowswell a break and took over as keeper in the 71st minute. Buckley led Rollins in saves, with three. Sidney Usina tallied the lone goal for the Warriors, Summer Simpson had seven saves to keep the score a game.
The Tars got on the board first, with Ramirez's score coming in just the 20th minute. Isabell Poma broke down the Warrior defense for the Tars second goal, as Rollins went into the half up 2-0. McGirt headed in a Richards corner to give Rollins a 3-0 lead. Richards sent in a dangerous corner kick, which floated over the keeper and into the netfor the fourth. Sidney Usina, in the 75th minute, got the Warriors on the board scoring on a rebound. Bella Guiliano scored a beautiful shot from 40 yards that bounced down off the crossbar. Ally Rost netted the final goal a minute later after Mbengue sent a dangerous pass across net, and Rost tapped it in.
Rollins will return to action on Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. The Tars will start conference games against Florida Southern Barker Family Stadium.
