Rollins and Tampa Fight to Scoreless Draw

TAMPA, Fla. (October 3, 2018) – Rollins and Tampa could not be separated after 110 minutes of action, as the Tars and Spartans battled to a 0-0 draw.  Two of the top three teams in the Sunshine State Conference will have to split the points on the evening.  Rollins moves to 5-1-4 overall, and 3-1-1 in SSC play.  Tampa ends the night at 5-2-4 overall, and 3-0-2 in conference action.

Meghan Mosley lead the Rollins attack, firing off two shots on the day, while Kathryn O'Brien put her one effort on net.  Kelly Rowswell made eight saves for Rollins, playing the full 110 minutes, and keeping the Spartans off the board. Nastasia Asgedom took four shots for the Spartans, while a trip of Tampa players put two shots on goal.  Spartan keeper Megan Bromwell made one save on the evening.

Both teams probed in the first half, but could not find a decisive play.  Rollins earned four corner kicks, as each team put a shot on target.  Tampa came out aggressive in the second half, ending the period with six shots, and four on net.  Rollins earned another four corners in the second 45 minutes.  However, neither team could capitalize on the chances in regulation.  The Spartans took four shots in the overtime period, three on target, but Rowswell was there to repel them all, maintaining the 0-0 score line.

The Tars will return home to Barker Family Stadium to face Palm Beach Atlantic, as they continue SSC action.  Kickoff against the Sailfish is set for Saturday, October 6, at 7 p.m.
