WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 6, 2018) – The Tars extended their unbeaten streak to four with a competitive 1-0 win over Palm Beach Atlantic at Barker Family Stadium. The Tars improve to 6-1-4 on the year, and 4-1-1 in Sunshine State Conference action. The Sailfish fall to 5-5-2, and 1-4-1 in SSC play.
The Tars got their goal off the foot of Kathryn O'Brien. The tally is the team leading fourth for the junior. Freshman Katie Evans picked up the assist, earning her first point in the Blue and Gold. Kelly Rowswell made four saves to preserve her conference leading fourth clean sheet. Karina Williams and Kylie Meola each had two shots for the Sailfish; each put one on frame. Madison Chiola kept Palm Beach Atlantic in the game, making nine saves on the evening.
The Tars were the aggressors from the early moments of the contest. Rollins' breakthrough came in the 31st minute. An Evans throw in went to the feet of O'Brien, who was able to turn and finish on the near post. Rollins would pepper the Sailifsh goal all game, taking nine first half shots, and ten registering ten second half attempts, but they could not double their lead. The Tars defense held the Sailfish to half chances as time ticked down, and the Tars picked up the win, and jumped into second place in the SSC.
The Tars will travel to St. Petersburg for their next contest. Rollins will take on the Eckerd Tritons on Wednesday, October 10, at 7 p.m.
