Tars Begin 2018-2019 Season

MATCH UP: Rollins vs Tampa

SET UP: After months of preparation, the Tars women's swim team is ready to dive into the 2018-2019 season. This marks Kyle Berg's third year as the head coach of the Tars swim team, while assistant Julianne Kurke enters her first season with the Tars.

Rollins ended last season on a high note, breaking six school records at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championship. Graduates Taylor Wilks and Brigid Cotter leave a big void to fill both in and out of the pool. Wilks is the only swimmer in school history to twice for the NCAA Championship and Cotter was a captain and team leader. However, the Tars youngsters from a year ago are ready to step-up and make a splash in the SSC.

WHO TO WATCH:

ROLLINS: The Tars have added 13 new faces to the team since last season looking to make an immediate impact in the pool. Returning for the Tars, Sophomore Hannah Brockman finished eighth in the 1650 in the SSC Championship meet. Also, returning for the Tars, is Senior Grace Hansen finished 10th in the 400-yard MI and qualified for the NCAA championship in two events as a sophomore. Senior Makenzie Grider finished 13th in the 500 Yard Freestyle, 14th in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, and eighth in the 1650 Yard Freestyle to score individually at the SSC Championship. Brockman, Thompson, and Trattner helped get a new school record in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay. Thompson, Brockman, Trattner also got a new school record in the 200 and 400 free relay.

TAMPA: The Spartans bring 13 new faces to the team this season. Returning to the team is sophomore Hanna van who is an All- American in the 200 free. Loock swam in the 200 free, 400 free, and the 800 free at nationals last season. Also returning for the Spartans is junior Megan Waddell and Molley O' Hara were both named All Americans in the 200 free and 400 free. Spartans finished the Division II NCAA Championship No. 12 and with six All- Americans in three different relays.

Rollins will take on Florida Southern at home on Friday October 19 4:00 p.m. and Keiser at home on Saturday October 20 at 11:00 p.m.
