WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 19, 2018) – Beatriz Olivieri won two events and posted the fourth-fastest 200-butterfly time in the nation to highlight the Tars dual with rival Florida Southern on Friday.
The Tars won three events and posted six runner-up finishes, but were beaten by the 17-ranked Mocs 128-77.
Oliveri started her day with a resounding victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.65. The freshman was nearly three full seconds faster than second place. She later came back and won the 200-yard butterfly in a NCAA B cut mark of 2:05.34.
Grace Hansen also enjoyed a standout day with top finishes in three events. The senior was second in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:02.11, runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.65 and took third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:38.67.
Maya Thompson was an event winner, reaching the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.50. The sophomore added a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (26.06) and teamed with Macy Trattner, Anna Van Zyverden and Sydney Willis to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.26).
Willis earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM in 2:10.82 and was also runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.19.
Also posting top finishes, Emma Jones was third in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:21.07), Marisa Gingerich took second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.26) and Makenzie Grider was third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.22).
