Rollins Continues to Find Success at SCAD

SAVANNAH, Ga. ( November 30, 2018) – The Rollins women's swim team continued to post fast times and gather points on day two of the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational.

The Tars moved into fifth at the 13-team event with 205 points. Wingate leads the way with 756, followed by Emory (315.5) and Lynn (315). 

The Tars 200 yard freestyle relay of Maya Thompson, Shae Knox, Samantha Shelly, and Anna Van Zyverden started the day with a sixth place finish in a time of 1:39.12. 

Beatriz Olivieri picked up two runner-up finishes, posting a time of 56.49 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:52.70 in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Sydney Willis took sixth place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:33.30 and was 11th in the 200-yad freestyle, stopping the clock at 1:55.02. Grace Hansen was 11th in the 400 IM in 4:39.47. 

Cara Dealy took 14th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.31. 

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Jamie Mans placed 16th with a time of 1:10.56. 

The Tars 400-yard medley relay grabbed an 11th place finish as Shelly, Oivieri, Darrelle Pawley and Willis posted a time of 4:01.09. 

The Tars are back in the pool Saturday, December 1 for the third and final day of the SCAD invitational. Prelims get underway at 9 a.m. with the finals to follow at 4 p.m.
