MELBOURNE, Fla. (January 25, 2019) – Powered by five event wins and depth in all races, Rollins posted a 133-127 win over Florida Tech on Friday night.
With the result, the Tars tally a second dual meet win in the last three competitions.
Beatriz Olivieri won two individual events to lead the way for the Tars. The freshman won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:06.20, five seconds better than second place. She also posted a victory in the 100-yard fly with a time of 58.52. She joined Marisa Gingerich, Darrelle Pawley and Maya Thompson to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.96.
Samantha Shelly picked up a win in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.7 and was third in the 100-yard freestyle (55.30).
Thompson won the 50-yard freestyle (25.05) and posted a second place in the 100-yard free (54.81). She led off the Tars second-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.01), joining Sydney Willis, Shae Knox and Anna Van Zyverden.
Gringerich was an event winner as well, taking first in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.75.
Grace Hansen had a pair of runner-up finishes, posting at time of 5:08.47 in the 500-yard freestyle and stopping the clock at 4:36.30 in the 400-yard IM. The senior added a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.97).
Emma Jones was runner-up in the 1000 with a time of 11:17.66.
Rollins will look to carry the positive momentum into the final weekend of the regular season, visiting Saint Leo on Friday, February 1 before hosting Lynn on Senior Day, Saturday, February 2.
