ORLANDO, Fla. (February 28, 2018) – The Tars defeated Division I foe Mount Saint Mary's handily, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. With the 7-0 win Rollins improves to 5-3 overall in 2018. The Mount drop to 1-6 on the year.
The Tars took two of the three doubles matches to claim the lone doubles point in the contest. Teresa Kaiser and Katie Dyson teamed up for the first time this season and cruised to an 8-1 win in the second position. Savanna Fuller and Marie Debruyn also came out victorious, defeating Megan Gamble and Megan Smith 8-4 in the third spot.
Rollins swept the singles matches to come home with the dominating win. Dyson picked up her second win of the day, not losing a set in sixth position, downing Mia Pittman 6-0, 6-0. Kaiser also earned a singles shutout in the fourth spot, defeating Emma Blake 6-0, 6-0. Debruyn picked up the decisive victory for Rollins, earning the Tars fourth point with a 6-2, 6-3 win on the fifth court. The top three spots would all take care of business as well, completing the shutout. Fabiana Vitanza cruised in the top position, then Fuller secured a 6-2, 6-1 win in the second, and finally, Carlye Goldman locked up the final match 6-4, 6-2 in the second spot.
Rollins will begin a busy week next Monday, March 5, when they host Saginaw Valley at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
