WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 20, 2019) – Rollins stayed unbeaten, easily dispensing of Division III Bates, 6-1, on their home courts Wednesday afternoon. The Tars improve to 3-0 overall, ahead of their Sunshine State Conference opener. The Bobcats fall to 1-1 to start the 2019 campaign.
The Tars earned the doubles point courtesy of sweep. Alexandra Borg and Teresa Kaiser recovered after losing the first game to cruise home with a 6-2, first position win. Carlye Goldman and Savanna Fuller made easy work of their second court foes, winning 6-3. Ola Durzynski picked up her first win in the Blue and Gold by teaming up with Marie Debruyn to complete the sweep.
Rollins controlled singles play as well to take the victory. Kaiser dominated her singles foe in the fifth spot, winning the first set 6-0, before the Bobcat was forced to retire. Fuller picked up her second victory of the day with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win in the second position. Freshman Kaitlynn Groves stayed unbeaten in her college career with a 6-0, 6-1 win on the fourth court, clinching the overall win. Marie Debruyn and Ola Durzynski rounded out the Tars' victories on the day.
Rollins will take to the road as they open SSC competition. The Tars will head south to face off against No. 5 Lynn on Saturday, February 23. First serve against the Fighting Knights is set for 10 a.m.
