ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 11, 2019) – The Tars celebrated Fox Day with a 7-0 shutout win over Sunshine State Conference foe Eckerd. The win move Rollins to an even 9-9 on the year, and 3-5 in SSC action. The Tritons fall to 6-12 in 2019, and remain winless, 0-8 in conference play.
The Tars sailed through all three singles matches, sweeping their way to the double point. Alexandra Borg and Ola Durzynski improved to 3-0 on the year with a 6-1 win in the top position. Kaitlynn Groves and Teresa Kaiser did not drop a game in a 6-0 win in the second court. Savanna Fuller and Carlye Goldman complete the sweep with a 6-1 win in the third spot.
Rollinsmade easy work of the Triton in singles action as well. Borg tallied her second first court win of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Durzynski cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win in the second spot. Fuller shutout her opponent in a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win in the third position. Kaiser pick up the fourth court victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Groves, a freshman tallied a 6-0, 6-1 victory for her seventh win in first campaign in the Blue and Gold. Marie Debruyn helped Rollins complete the shutout with a 6-0, 6-3 win on the sixth court.
The Tars face Division I Temple on Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. Rollins will honor their three seniors prior to first serve at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.
