TAMPA, Fla. (April 17, 2019) – Rollins closed their regular season on the road at Tampa. The Tars were unable to bounce the Spartans, falling 4-3 in the finale. With the defeat Rollins falls to 10-11 overall, and 4-6 in Sunshine State Conference action. Tampa improves to 12-7 on the year and also end the year at 4-6 against SSC competition.
Tampa captured the crucial doubles point, winning the second and third matches to start the contest. Alexandra Borg and Ola Durzynski tallied the Tars only win in double action. The newly minted No. 43 double pair in the country took a 6-3 top court decision.
Tampa took the first two singles matches to be on the verge of the overall victory. Marie Debruyn tallied the Tars first point of the match, earning a 6-4, 6-2 win, on the sixth court. Tampa clinched with the match, registering their fourth point in the third position. Rollins made the score close with wins on the first and second courts. Durzynski won an extended straight set contest in the second spot, winning 7-5, 7-6(6). Borg took the first spot win, recovering from a first set defeat to win 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, tallying the Tars third point.
The Tars will wait to learn their SSC Tournament fate. The event will begin on Friday, April 26, at IMG Academy in Bradenton.
