Schlesman Earns SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Senior Middle Blocker Earns First Player of the Week of her Career

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 10, 2018) –  After leading the team in blocks on the weekend, Rollins senior middle blocker Sam Schlesman has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.  This marks the first SSC Defensive Player of the Week award for Schlesman in her career.

Schlesman led the Tars in blocks with 11 on the week, averaging 1.57 blocks per set, as they took on Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference action.  Against the Eagles, Schlesman earned two blocks while adding three kills 3-0 loss.  The Largo, Fla. native helped turn things around the following day as she earned a new career high in blocks against the Panthers. The middle blocker put up a match high nine blocks while adding eight kills two aces, and three digs as Rollins took down Florida Tech, 3-1.

Rollins takes to the road for their next match, traveling west down I-4 to Tampa to take on the Spartans in a Tuesday night clash.  Game time against the University of Tampa is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11.  Fans who are unable to support the Tars in person can follow all of the action live with live stats on, as well as with a live broadcast on the Tars Sports Network.
