Tars Set to Take on Eckerd in Final Home Match of September

Entering into the weekend with a record of 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Sunshine State Conference action, the Rollins volleyball team is primed and ready to host Eckerd College (5-5, 0-3 SSC) on Saturday afternoon in Warden Arena. The match-up marks the first time the two teams will meet on the court this season, with the teams squaring off in a 4 p.m. weekend showdown. WHO TO WATCH:
Entering into the match with a record of 3-7 and 1-2 against SSC opponents, and sitting seventh in SSC standings, the Tars return home on Saturday to Warden Arena for their final home match of the month of September. Out of their 10 matches so far this year, two have been against opponents ranked within the Top-Five, including then No. 1 and defending National Champion Concordia-St. Paul, one has been against a team ranked No. 16, while two have been against opponents who received votes at the time of competition. With 10 matches played and a total of 35 sets, Rollins is led by senior Rachel Fletcher with 85 kills, averaging 2.43 per set. Sophomore Leslie Seda has tallied 60 kills, while seniors Kerra Tirado and Sam Schlesman have earned 53 and 50, respectively. Sophomore Sarah Konemann has dished out a team best 166 assists so far this season, including a career high 42 against Florida Tech on September 8, while freshman Rebecca Kuehn has earned 105. Konemann averages 4.74 assists per set, while Kuehn averages 3.50. Seda has notched a team best 11 aces so far this season, followed by Fletcher with nien and Jessika Linnemeyer with seven. Defensively, Linnemeyer leads the Tars in digs with 128, averaging 3.66 per set, followed by Fletcher with 113 and an average of 3.23 per set. In total blocks, Tirado leads the way with 35, having earned 32 assisted blocks and a team best three solo stops as she averages 1.03 per set. Reigning Defensive Player of the Week Sam Schlesman averages .97 blocks per set, having earned 34 block assists so far this season. Behind the senior duo, freshman Candace Doxey has put up 22 blocks of her own, while Seda has earned 16.
The Tritons enter into Saturday's matchup with a record of 5-5 and 0-3 in SSC play, and are coming off of a 3-0 (14-25, 18-25, 20-25) loss to the 16th-ranked Tampa Spartans on Thursday evening. The loss dropped the Tritons into last place in SSC standings. Having played 41 sets in 10 matches, the Eckerd Tritons are led by Asya Harris with 103 kills, averaging a team best 3.43 per set. Paula Hoffman follows with 99 kills, averaging a t team best 2.91 per set, while Abbie O'Ferrell has tallied 91 kills, and averages a team second best 3.14 per set. Fernanda Reis has amassed a team best 441 assists as the team's primary setter, averaging 10.76 assists per set. Off the serve, Hoffman leads the team with 14 aces, followed closely by Reis with 13. Erillo has notched a team best 191 digs, averaging 4.66 per set, while Hoffmann has tallied 86. Wisian leads the way with 36 total blocks, earning one solo block and 35 assisted. Reis follows with 23 blocks of her own, while Payton Meader has earned 19, including 17 assisted blocks and a team best two solo stops. Matching Meader in solo blocks is Sarah Johnshoy with two solo blocks and 12 assisted blocks for 14 so far this season.
- Saturday's match marks the final home game for the Tars in the month of September. Rollins returns to Warden Arena on Friday, October 5, when they host Saint Leo at 7 p.m.
