Tars to Host Dig Pink Game, October 5

Tars to Host Dig Pink Game, October 5

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 26, 2018) – The Rollins volleyball team will host its annual "Dig Pink" match on Friday, October 5, when the Tars host Saint Leo University at 7 p.m. in Warden Arena.  Dig Pink events give spectators the opportunity to become involved by making donations to the Side-Out Foundation which goes toward a clinical trial specifically for patients with stage 4 breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.  Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to show their support in honor of those who have been affected by breast cancer.

The Tars will begin their fundraising efforts by collecting donations throughout the week on their Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink site, and will also hold a silent auction for special edition pink jerseys, which will be worn during Friday's match.  (Click here to visit the Auction Site to bid on a jersey!)

With their efforts, Rollins joins thousands of teams around the country this fall who will be participating in The Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally.  Middle school, high school and college teams will promote breast health education in the community as well as raise funds to further research.

All proceeds benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches to work toward the common goal of making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. The organization's goal is to advance clinical trials, increase patient support services and educate communities. Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournaments, clinics and other fundraising efforts. The foundation offers practical support for fundraising in addition to educational material for participants in order to help them become effective advocates for breast cancer. It contributes the funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support.
