SET UP:
With four matches remaining on their 2018 schedule, including their final two home games this weekend, the Rollins volleyball team is set to Lynn University and No. 23 Barry University in Sunshine State Conference action in Warden Arena.  The Tars open up with a Friday night match-up against the Fighting Knights at 7 p.m. in Warden Arena, followed by a 4 p.m. contest against the 23rd-ranked Buccaneers.  Live coverage is available with live stats on TarsStats.com as well as with video on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSportsLive.com. WHO TO WATCH:
Rollins:
Coming off of a heartbreaking five-set loss to Nova Southeastern last week, the Tars enter into the weekend with a record of 4-22 and 1-15 in SSC play.  As a team, Rollins has played in 26 matches and 86 sets, and have earned 792 kills, averaging 9.21 per set.  The Tars are also averaging 8.63 assists per set, 1.82 blocks per set, 1.28 aces per set, and 13.45 digs per set.  Leslie Seda leads the team with 152 kills, averaging 1.77 per set, followed closely by Sam Schlesman with 148, while Kerra Tirado has earned 129.  Rebecca Kuehn has hit her stride down the final stretch, and has amassed 414 assists so far this season, averaging 5.45 per set.  Sarah Konemann has earned 234 assists of her own, and averages 4.50 per set in her time on the court.  Rachel Fletcher holds onto a team best 27 aces, as well as leads the team in digs with 297, averaging 3.45 per set.  Jessika Linnemeyer has notched 21 aces of her own to follow Fletcher, and has also tallied a team second best 214 digs, averaging 2.61 per set.  Tirado has posed up a team high 81 blocks this season, including six solo and 75 block assists.  Schlesman leads the team in solo blocks with 10, and has added 49 block assists for 59 total so far in her senior campaign. 

Lynn University:
Entering into Friday night's match with a record of 14-12 and 7-9 in Sunshine State Conference play, the Fighting Knights find themselves riding a two match win streak having most recently defeated Eckerd in five (25-23, 26-28, 25-16, 21-25, 13-15), and Nova Southeastern in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-20).  With 26 matches played, and 95 sets under their belts, the Fighting Knights average 12.71 kills per set, 11.99 assists per set, 1.94 blocks per set, 1.33 aces per set, and 17.55 digs per set.  Sonja Udovcic leads the way with 362 kills, averaging 3.81 per set, while Rafaela Fonseca has notched 331, and averages 3.48 per set.  Isadora Nicolai has handed out 742 assists, averaging 7.81 per set, followed by Biatriz Souza Berti with 258 total.  Marine Kinna leads the team with 30 aces, followed closely by Nicolai with 29.  Udovcic has earned a team best 347 digs, averaging 3.65 per set, while Fonseca and Kinna have tallied 339 and 311 apiece.  Lauren Odom leads the way in total blocks with 83, including posting a team best 14 solo blocks, while Paige Fullerton has earned 61 total blocks, including 11 solo blocks.

No. 23 Barry University:
After checking in at No. 23 on the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll released on October 29, the Barry University Buccaneers enter into the weekend with a record of 24-3, and 13-3 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The Bucs are coming off of a 3-0 sweep over Eckerd at home in Miami Shores, following a 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 24-26, 11-15 ) loss to then No. 17 Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday, October 23.  Prior to taking on the Tars on Saturday afternoon, Barry will take on No. 7 Tampa at the Martinez Center on Friday night.  Barry averages 13.9 kills per set, 13.0 assists per set, 1.7 aces per set, 17.5 digs per set, and 2.4 blocks per set.  Megi Buvinic leads the team with 324 kills, averaging 3.64 per set, followed by Kristina Filimonova with 323 as she averages 3.47 per set.  Bianca Pasca leads the team with 962 assists, averaging 10.69 per set, while Auren Rose has earned 107 so far this season.  Rose has amassed a team best 33 aces so far this season, followed by Pasca with 29, and Madison Yarborough with 27.  Rose has notched a team best 559 digs, averaging 5.95 per set, with Buvinic following with 265, Pasca earning 207, and Filimonova with 206.  Stassy Samokhvalova has put up a team high 117 total blocks this season, averaging 1.38 per set as she has earned a team best 13 solo blocks and 104 block assists.  Filimonova has tallied a team second best 12 solo blocks this season, and has added 53 block assists for 65 total.  Kishara Gordon sits in between the two with 78 total blocks so far this year, including seven solo blocks and 71 block assists. 

NOTES:

  • The last time Rollins and Lynn faced off was on Saturday, September 29, in Boca Raton.  The Tars fell to the Fighting Knights in straight sets (11-25, 24-26, 13-25).
  • The Tars' last win against Lynn was on Thursday, October 19, 2017, when Rollins earned a five-set thriller over the Fighting Knights in Boca Raton (26-28, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 15-6).
  • Rollins trails the series against Lynn, 18-24.  The first time the two teams matched up on the court was back in 1997, where Rollins defeated Lynn with a 3-0 sweep (15-5, 15-3, 15-4) on October 25.
  • In their last matchup with Barry, the Tars found themselves at the bottom end of a 3-0 final score (13-25, 12-25, 21-25) when Rollins traveled to Miami Shores earlier this season on September 28, 2018.
  • Rollins and Barry have matched up 63 times in program history, with the Bucs leading the all-time series, 37-26.
  • The Tars' last victory over Barry was on November 11, 2017, when Rollins took down the Bucs in a thrilling five-set (23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-13) victory in Warden Arena, concluding the 2017 Rollins Volleyball Senior Day on a high note.  The five-set win at home marked the second straight season the Tars have taken down Barry in Warden Arena on senior day.  To conclude their 2016 home schedule, the Tars defeated Barry on November 19 by a score of 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13).

NEXT:
The Tars take to the road for their final two matches of the season, traveling to Florida Southern and Saint Leo.  Rollins will match up against the Moccasins on Friday, November 9, at 7 p.m. in the Jenkins Field House, followed by a 6:00 p.m. contest against the Lions in the Marion Bowman Activities Center on the campus of Saint Leo University.
