SET UP:
Entering into their final weekend of competition for their 2018 schedule, the Rollins volleyball team is set to take on conference foes Florida Southern College and Saint Leo University in back-to-back road matches.  The Tars will face off against the Moccasins of Florida Southern on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Jenkins Field House, followed by a 6 p.m. contest in the Marion Bowman Activities Center against the Lions of Saint Leo.  Live coverage is available with live stats on TarsStats.com as well as with video on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSportsLive.com.

WHO TO WATCH:
Rollins:
The Tars find themselves entering into their final weekend of competition in 2018 riding a seven game losing streak.  With 28 matches and a total of 92 sets played, Rollins has earned 836 kills, averaging 9.09 per set.  The Tars are also averaging 8.48 assists per set, 1.82 blocks per set, 1.24 aces per set, and 13.35 digs per set.  Leslie Seda leads the team with 159 kills, averaging 1.73 per set, followed closely by Sam Schlesman with 154, while Kerra Tirado has earned 134.  Rebecca Kuehn has amassed 434 assists so far this season, averaging 5.29 per set.  Sarah Konemann has earned 249 assists of her own, and averages 4.37 per set in her time on the court.  Rachel Fletcher holds onto a team best 28 aces, as well as leads the team in digs with 314, averaging 3.41 per set.  Jessika Linnemeyer has notched 21 aces of her own to follow Fletcher, and has also tallied a team second best 229 digs, averaging 2.60 per set.  Tirado has posed up a team high 87 blocks this season, including seven solo and 80 block assists.  Schlesman leads the team in solo blocks with 10, and has added 54 block assists for 64 total so far in her senior campaign. 

Florida Southern:
Entering into Friday night's match with a record of 19-10 and 11-7 in Sunshine State Conference play, the Mocs enter into Friday night's showdown coming off of a 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 24-26, 22-25) loss to then No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, November 3.  With 29 matches played, and 107 sets under their belts, the Moccasins average 13.35 kills per set, 12.54 assists per set, 2.03 blocks per set, 1.26 aces per set, and 18.59 digs per set.  Nicole Mattson leads the team in kills with 490, averaging 4.62 per set, followed by Rachael Martin with 289, and an average of 2.95 kills per set.  Bethany Besancenez leads the team in assists with 1,184, averaging 11.07 assists per set.  Mattson has earned a team high 25 aces so far this season, while Buse Ene has notched 23, and Besancenez has totaled 21. Gabby Fresh holds onto a team high 532 digs, while Mattson has amassed 388 and Besancenez has dug out 325 of her own – all three are seniors.  Freshman Tierra Porter has posted up a team high 122 digs so far, with a team best 16 solo blocks and 106 block assists. 

Saint Leo:
The Saint Leo University Lions enter into the weekend with a record of 16-13 overall and 11-7 in SSC action.  The Lions are riding a three-game win streak, and are coming off of a sweep over then No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, November2, and a 3-2 win at Nova Southeastern on Saturday, November 3.  Before Saturday evening's matchup with the Tars, Saint Leo will host ninth-ranked Tampa in the Bowman Center.  With 29 matches played, and a total of 108 sets, the Lions are averaging 13.4 kills per set, 12.6 assists per set, 1.3 aces per set, 16.8 digs per set, and 2.0 blocks per set.  Ashley Quero has earned a team best 332 kills, averaging 3.10 per set, followed by Victoria Omoregie with 269, Nina Vattovaz with 254, and Annabella Arcari with 247.  Cassandra Kamien has amassed a team high 1,036 assists, averaging 9.59 assists per set.  Reggie Vandevender leads the team in aces with 36, while Payton Bellano has earned 23.  Vandevender also leads the team in digs with 392, averaging 3.66 per set, while Bellano has earned 312 digs of her own.  In total blocks, the Lion sare led by Arcari with 96, as she has put up a team high17 solo blocks and 79 block assists. 

NOTES:

  • The Mocs currently sit tied with Saint Leo in SSC standings, with both teams holding onto conference records of 11-7 to sit fourth.  Florida Southern holds onto the edge in overall wins, with Saint Leo sitting on an overall record of 16-13 compared to FSC's 19-10 overall mark.
  • Rollins and Florida Southern have matched up 98 times since their first meeting on October 13, 1976.  The Mocs lead the all-time series, 90-8.
  • Last time out against the Mocs, the Tars fell in straight sets (18-25, 15-25, 14-25) on October 6 in Warden Arena.
  • The last time Rollins defeated the Moccasins was on Friday, November 15, 2013, at home in Warden Arena. The Tars earned a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20) win over FSC, earning their 21st win of the season.
  • Last time out against the Lions, Rollins fell in straight sets (16-25, 12-25, 21-25) in Warden Arena.
  • The Tars' last victory over Saint Leo was back on Friday, October 23, 2015, when Rollins bested the Lions by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-23) in Warden Arena.
