Yeager Earns Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award

MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 9, 2019) – Rollins freshman middle blocker Alexis Yeager was named the first Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the 2019 season, it was announced Monday.

The native of Fort Myers, Florida had a monster weekend at the Flagler Saints Invitational, leading the Tars to a pair of victories. She was dominant at the net, totaling 18 blocks over the four matches while averaging 2.15 blocks per set. No other player in the conference had more than 13 blocks. 

In the Tars season opening 3-0 win over Southern Wesleyan, Yeager had one solo block and two block assists. She followed that with a three-solo, four-assist performance in another 3-0 win, this time over Shorter in the Tars' second game of the day.

Yeager assisted on seven blocks and had one solo block the next day in matches against Newberry and Flagler.

In addition to her defensive prowess, Yeager also recorded 26 kills at a team-high 39.6%.

Rollins (2-2) next heads to Waltham, Massachusetts for the Hoffman Memoria Tournament, hosted by Bentley University. The Tars will meet Molloy, host Bentley, East Stroudsburg and Caldwell during the trip to New England. Fans can follow the action live at RollinsSports.com
