MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 8, 2018) – Rollins was back on the course early Saturday morning in Melbourne, running in the 2018 Florida Tech Invitational.
The Tars took eighth at the event; finishing behind winner Tampa and second place Lynn.
Senior Sinead McDonald led the Tars with a 54th place finish, posting a time of 24:14 over the 5k course. Meg Bespolka was a full two-minutes faster than the previous week, stopping the clock at 24:42 and finishing 56th.
Laura Tobin and Aby Wong both hung season-bests by four minutes, finishing 64th and 65th with matching times of 26:25. Freshman Anna Belle Warren took 67th in 29:18 and Alex Lichtner was 69th with a time of 30:39, four minutes better than last week.
"I am very encouraged by today's times," said Interim Head Coach Nate Weyant. "Sinead and Anna Belle did fantastic in their first races and to see everyone else drop big chunks of time is very exciting as we continue through the season. Assistant Coach Whit Wismar has an aggressive workout schedule for the team in the coming weeks and will continue to result in personal bests."
Rollins is right back on the course Sept. 15 at the Embry-Riddle Asics Invitational in Daytona Beach; the host course for the regular-season ending Sunshine State Conference Championship.
